It didn't really matter if I deserved their attention or not. Not all encounters resulted in a ticket or charge, after all, most of the time I was committing no crime whatsoever. Was it an Asian Male thing? Don't know. I look "slightly ethnic", as people say. Was it my long hair? Don't know. I'm well-dressed, well-spoken, and well-groomed. Anyway, my biggest problem with cops is when they act as "Fun Busters" more than crime preventers, or when they boss people around just because they can. Tickets, yeah ok. Scaring Seedy a little, yeah ok; for a good cause I guess. (Sorry Seedy, and glad the incident didn't blow-up in your face!) Look I'm not trying to bust your chops Guapo, I'm just providing an honest, dispassionate counterpoint to what you said. The more people you ask, the more the picture will become clear: many many many cops are jerks and consistently treat certain citizens poorly if they fit a profile. This is deeply unfair. The best way to avoid cop trouble is avoid looking like a bad guy in the first place, and don't be an Adam Henry if they do stop you. But this will never accomplish social change. Good for you for not fitting the trouble-maker profile...so far. Not all of us have that benefit naturally, and not all of us know what we could change to achieve it.
